Multi Day Predator Lure Fishing Trips
TopCats Fishing Resort is now able to offer 2 & 3 day lure fishing trips to one of Thailands
most beautiful locations.t
Location
Cheow Larn Lake is situated approx 70kms west of Surrathani, The lake is part of
the Kao Sok National Park and is under Forest Ranger Protection. Through friends in the
Forestry Dept we have gained access to previous Non-Public areas, so the Fishing and
Wildlife is second to none as there is no commercial fishing allowed in this area, so
Cameras are a definite must on this trip !!
Fishing
If you like Lure Fishing, then this is the trip for you ! You can use Surface Popper
type lures over weed beds for the notorious Giant Snakehead Fish (bla shadow) or
Spoons and Plugs for Hampala Barbs (bla gazoop) and also Rohu (bla rohu), also if you
are lucky you may hook into into another Predator called the Cobra Snakehead Fish (bla
shon noo how). The adrenalin will start to rush when you get a strike from a Giant
Snakehead, it is one of the most exciting forms of fishing, where you can actually see the
fish strike the lure, then the battle is on, you have to try to stop the fish from getting into
the many snags and weedbeds. This fish is guaranteed to test any anglers skills !
Wildlife
The amount of wildlife in this protected park is unbelievable; you are very likely to see Wild Boar at the waters edge, as well as real Wild Elephants, Giant Water Otters, Deer, Gibbons and many Monkeys. To top it off if your in the right place at the right time Wild Cows and the remote possibility of Tigers, but unfortunately both of these are very rare, even in a protected park like this. The Birdlife is fantastic as well; you will see Giant Hornbills with a 6ft wingspan and many different Birds of Prey. This is truly an spectacular part of Thailand that not many tourists or residents come to that, have ever seen!
Accommodation
The Lodge consists of Bamboo Bungalows that floate on large dead trees and are secured to the bankside (don't worry about floating away as there is no current in the lake). The Restaurant\Rest Area and Bungalows are set in a beautiful part of the National Park. Have your cameras ready for Sunrise, as this is when you will see the clouds and trees combine, truly a picture to hang above the mantelpiece or to keep as a screen saver!
Itinery
Leave Samui on the early Ferry to Donsak, Surrathani, then we drive to the Boat Pick up area, approx 2 hour drive. The traditional Thai long tail boat takes you to Base Camp, the journey is spectacular, what with 1000 metre limestone cliffs and 1000 year old rainforests, you'd better bring spare batteries and loads of memory for your camera, cos your gonna need it on this trip !! Once at the Lodge, you can either go straight out fishing or relax a while, it’s up to you. When fishing you go out with the Forest Rangers in a small long tail boat, these are used to get into the creeks and margins where these fish inhabit.Once in the area the Ranger will cut the engine, and paddle, that's when you will experience complete silence, the only sound around is the sound of your lure as you retrieve through the water and hopefully the crash of water as the Snakehead strikes, a real unforgettable experience!!!

I'm sure we can supply this for you, Tea and Coffee is freely available at the Lodge
